Fifty-two people from Heritage are traveling to Reynosa this year.
Reynosa has become a bustling community of economic and cultural exchange. Hoping one day to cross into the United States, thousands come here in search of a better life. Most are hardworking people who find jobs in the tourist or manufacturing sectors, but even then, many citizens only make the average annual income of $5,000 per year! Forced to live in desperate conditions, they find scraps of plastic, tin, and tree limbs, and build shelters for their families in squatter settlements on the fringes of the city. Mission Discovery teams will provide help to these families through construction and evangelism. You will partner with the city of Reynosa and local church congregations to build homes and restore hope to those living in desperate conditions. Along with construction, each day you will help lead an exciting vacation bible school that will reach over 100 neighborhood children with the good news of Jesus. Along with the hard work, you will spend an exciting day experiencing the local culture while shopping at the Market.
